A family affair
Have you ever met Pierre Faucher, founder of Sucrerie de la Montagne? He’s impossible to forget! Warm, authentic, and passionate, he embodies Quebec culture and identifies as a proud ambassador for local businesses. Every visitor leaves impressed by his personality and lively anecdotes.
His career, guided by a clear and ambitious vision, was recognized in 2024 when he received the Bâtisseur award from Tourisme Montérégie, rewarding 40 years of contribution to the region’s reputation.
At his side, his son Stéfan grew up with the sugar shack in his blood. Today, he is taking up the torch, bringing his own personal touch while respecting the values and passion of his parents, alongside his wife and their two daughters.
With his own family now involved in the day-to-day management, he continues to welcome visitors with the same warmth and attention to detail. “For me, every encounter is a gift. I love getting to know people, finding out where they come from and what motivated them to visit the sugar shack,” says Stéfan.
A lot to see all year long
At Sucrerie de la Montagne, you can enjoy a typical sugar shack feast… all year round! Whether you’re celebrating a special occasion with family or friends, this site, inspired by a village of yesteryear, is brimming with charm and instantly immerses visitors in a warm and authentic atmosphere.
On the menu are the essentials of our culinary heritage: from pea soup to Beauceronne tourtière, meatball stew, and beans in syrup. And you can’t leave without tasting the farmhouse bread, prepared on site and baked in a wood-fired oven, a true signature of the house.
Nestled among the trees, the site is magnificent in all seasons. Its rustic buildings and surrounding nature create a picture-perfect setting. The Sucrerie property borders the L’Escapade trail network, making it the perfect stop for a well-deserved break during a hike.
From May to October, hikers can enjoy a quick bite to eat before continuing on their way. And to prolong the experience, a stop at the general store is a must! There you’ll find a wide range of products made on site: maple butter, cookies, maple nuts, and much more. All these delicacies are also available online, delivered directly to your door.
