In the summer of 2025, Les Cèdres residents Natasha Chugh and Meghann Petrilli took the plunge and opened Mati Bistro Chic. Over the months, this cozy bistro—which showcases local ingredients—quickly carved out a prominent place for itself in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges culinary scene.
A passion that has become a project
With more than 20 years of experience in the restaurant industry, Natasha Chugh has always been deeply passionate about cooking. From culinary schools to a variety of restaurants and private clubs, she has built extensive expertise and developed a distinctive culinary identity over the years.
The pandemic, however, marked a major turning point. Like many others in the industry, she found herself reevaluating her future.
“It was a challenging time for the restaurant industry. For me, it allowed me to slow down and refocus my priorities. I love working in kitchens but I wanted a better work life balance, one that allowed me to still do what I love, but in a manner that respected my family.
It was during this period that the project began to take shape, with the support of her wife Meghann Petrilli, son Jax and friends and family. Although Meghann does not come from the restaurant world, she brings a completely different and complementary skill set, particularly her natural ability to connect with people.
“My wife is definitely more of a people person and is therefore exceptional with customers. Together, we make a perfectly complementary team for managing the different facets of the business,” Natasha emphasizes.
A vision that takes root at Les Cèdres
In the summer of 2025, an opportunity arose just a few steps from their home: a vacant space on Chemin Saint-Féréol. The timing was perfect. The project took shape, and Mati Bistro Chic officially opened its doors in July 2025.
From the very beginning, the duo’s vision came together naturally: to create a welcoming, warm, and deeply rooted community space.
Local, inspired, and ever-evolving cuisine
At the heart of the bistro’s identity: local ingredients. The menu changes roughly every two months, following the seasons and Natasha’s inspiration.
“I draw inspiration from what the suppliers have to offer, but also from my own whims of the moment. If I always made the same thing, I’d get bored!” jokes the chef enthusiastically.
The influences are varied and unapologetic. On one hand, fresh seasonal produce; on the other, a more personal inspiration, rooted in her family heritage spanning Barbados and India. World cuisine is therefore ever-present at Mati Bistro Chic.
The menu features pasta, fish, seafood, grilled meats, vegetarian options and fresh salads, always prepared with a special focus on the quality of the ingredients.
Among the local suppliers that inspire the cuisine at Mati Bistro Chic are Jardinerie Chez Ben, Ferme MTL (Saint-Lazare), le Bourg des Cèdres, Harvest Moon, Furley’s, and Casa Verde.
A warm and welcoming experience
With seating for 36 inside and 15 on the terrace, Mati Bistro Chic offers an intimate atmosphere, designed for romantic dinners as well as small groups and private events.
At the bar, guests can enjoy a menu of small bites as well as a selection of creative signature cocktails, which change regularly. Local beers are also featured, including those from Microbrasserie Trois-Lacs, among others.
The staff works like a close-knit family. This dynamic is directly reflected in the customer experience: warm, relaxed, and authentic service.
A place that’s already making a name for itself beyond Les Cèdres
The bistro already attracts a loyal clientele from Les Cèdres, as well as from neighboring towns such as Saint-Lazare, Hudson, Vaudreuil-Dorion, and Saint-Zotique.
However, Nathasha and Meghann’s goal is clear: to continue introducing their business—with its local flavors and unique atmosphere—to an even wider audience.
